WincovER program tick off milestones

Issue 94 January 2024

In an in-depth presentation made to members, Robert Mayer, the Director of the Blind Manufacturers Association of Australia (BMAA), shed light on the latest achievements and future plans of the BMAA Energy Rating Scheme. This scheme, which has now completed energy ratings for over 70 products, is a critical part of BMAA’s efforts in promoting energy efficiency in the building industry.

“The completion of energy ratings for such a diverse range of products marks a significant step forward for our WincovER program,” Mayer said. This achievement includes the introduction of the first set of WincovER Certified Automation products, a key milestone in integrating advanced technology with energy efficiency.

Another significant advancement Mayer highlighted was the development of the Colour Interpolation Methodology, with its first stage completed successfully. The methodology will significantly reduce the cost of the scheme when fully implemented.

Mayer said the BMAA’s marketing strategies have played a pivotal role in the scheme’s success. “The wincover.com.au website has not only served as an essential information hub but has also been instrumental in issuing over 2500 WincovER Certificates.”

“This platform has become a key resource for both industry professionals and consumers looking for energy-efficient building solutions.”

Mayer also touched upon the crucial role of partnerships in the program’s implementation. “Our collaborations with industry leaders such as Ozroll and Hunter Douglas have been fundamental in bringing WincovER ratings into the retail network,” he said. These partnerships have been instrumental in issuing thousands of certificates and conducting extensive training programs, which are crucial for the practical application of the program.

Mayer discussed plans for further collaboration with the CSIRO and NatHERS.

“Engaging with these organisations ensures that our program remains at the forefront of the rapidly evolving regulatory and technological landscape,” he stated.

This strategy reflects BMAA’s dedication to continuously reassessing and aligning the program with the latest market needs, especially in terms of improving energy efficiency for homeowners.

Mayer concluded: “Our goal is to lead in energy efficiency, adapting to both technological advancements and regulatory changes.”
