Somfy Lends A Helping Hand

ISSUE 72 May 2020

Somfy is proud to have recently sponsored the Charlie Teo Foundation Masquerade Ball in Brisbane. The evening, aimed at raising awareness and much-needed funds for brain cancer research, raised over $32,000.

In addition to the fun and laughter shared on the night, the 260 guests heard from a panel of people directly and indirectly touched by brain cancer. The moving talk also touched on the ripple effect this can have on the entire family.

Australian neurosurgeon, Professor Charlie Teo, officially launched the foundation in early 2018, and Somfy is pleased to have been able to support the cause ever since.

Somfy is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility, giving back to the community and lending a hand, not only financially, but through volunteering efforts too.

Once again, Somfy partnered with Habitat for Humanity in March, as part of their International Women’s Day efforts. The volunteers assisted in renovating a shelter for women and children experiencing homelessness, often due to domestic violence.

“This is my fourth-year volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, and we are so lucky to be in the position to be able to give back to the community and help those who need it most,” said Somfy’s Marketing Executive Mary Maidiotis.

“Every year, I know I’m going to leave the project exhausted and feeling sore the next day, but I also know we are putting smiles on the faces of those less fortunate, and that is what makes it worth coming back every year.”
