Silent Gliss Australia (SGAUS) is closing, subsequent to a resolution by the company’s Switzerland based owner.
In late March 2019, the owners of Silent Gliss made the decision to close down the Australian business, with Jamieson Louttit & Associates appointed to liquidate the company.
The move follows the death of General Manager David Manton late last year from a rare form of brain cancer.
In a letter to customers dated 29 March, Dr Bernhard Bratschi, CEO of Silent Gliss Switzerland, confirmed the Australian business had been losing turnover for some time.
“More recently, under the leadership of David Manton, we saw signs of improvement and we were confident that a turnaround was possible. However, through tragic circumstances David is no longer here to see things through.”
“To start again with new leadership would be too costly; therefore group management has decided to close down SGAUS with immediate effect.”
At the time of writing, the Swiss company had undertaken to provide support with regard to open orders, but confirmed Silent Gliss Australia could not accept new orders, effective 29 March.
