R+T and related fixtures postponed

ISSUE 72 May 2020

The organisers of R+T Asia and home decorating expo HD+ Asia, have announced their decision to postpone both shows to March 16-18, 2021, while the South American edition of R+T has also been put on hold.

The move to delay R+T Asia and HD+ Asia follows comprehensive market analysis, constructive discussions with exhibitors, as well as recommendations from the China’s Joint Prevention and Control Mechanism of the State Council, VNU Exhibitions Asia and Landesmesse Stuttgart.

“We believe that postponing our shows until March 2021 is best for the health and safety of exhibitors and visitors, as well as for the vitality of commerce and trade,” said Jessica Zhu, Vice President of VNU Exhibitions Asia.

At the beginning of the year, in the early stages of the coronavirus outbreak, organisers postponed the show from February to June 2020. They were convinced that it was the best solution, and they invested massive manpower and resources toward that end. However, the unforeseen global development of the pandemic has necessitated the further postponement of the trade shows.

“For 16 consecutive years, we have worked hard together to grow the entire industry, and we will put all our efforts to make sure that R+T Asia 2021 and co-located HD+ Asia 2021 will be exceptional, bringing together networking opportunities, the newest products, educational events and co-exhibitions,” said Zhu. “This is the moment to stand together, support each other and our industry. This is why we are working now on new concepts, including digital marketing solutions, which will be announced soon.”

“The organisers of R+T Asia and HD+ Asia thank their exhibitors and visitors for their understanding, trust and their long-term support, and remain committed to working together with all their supporters to find the best solutions for the future.”

Meanwhile R+T South America (Sao Paolo, Brazil) has been postponed to November 2020.

“The worldwide spread of the corona pandemic and official orders prevent trade fair events from taking place in Brazil,” a statement confirmed. “The third R+T South America will therefore take place together with the parallel GLASS South America from November 5 to 8, 2020. National and international exhibitors of both trade fairs have already expressed their support for this date. The important synergy effects of both events will remain and a date in the business year 2020 will enable contracts to be concluded and the opportunity to acquire urgently needed new customers.”

Manuela Keller, project manager for R+T trade fairs abroad, commented: “With the new dates we have now been able to create planning security for our exhibitors and visitors. It is clear that R+T Asia and R+T South America are and will remain important industry meeting points in their respective markets. The continuity of our trade fair activities is the top priority for all exhibitors, partners and for us as a trade fair company, in order to facilitate global exchange and trade again as quickly as possible”.
