Innovations awarded at R+T Digital

With coronavirus restricting events and international travel R+T Stuttgart has gone digital with a number of Innovation awards announced during the hybrid event program.

Running from 22 to 25 February, R+T Digital (https://www.messe-stuttgart.de/r-t/en/r-t-digital-2021/) is designed to complement the physical trade show that would normally be running this week.

“With R+T digital, we want to provide our exhibitors and partners with digital access to our world visitor network, so that in this framework the product novelties developed for 2021 can be presented in detail,” says Sebastian Schmid, Department Director Technology at Messe Stuttgart.

“Digital event formats will not and cannot replace live trade fairs. R+T is and will remain the highlight event of the roller shutters, doors/gates and sun protection systems sector. With R+T digital, we have developed a new format, complementary to the physical meeting at R+T 2022 in Stuttgart, and we would thus like to bring the sector together virtually already in 2021.”

The centerpiece for the online exhibition is the R+T Innovation Awards, with winners announced on the second day of the fair.

The R+T Innovation Award, which is awarded by the Federal Association for Manufacturers of Roller Shutters and Sun Protection (BVRS), the National Federation of Door and Gate Manufacturers (BVT), the Industrial Association for Technical Textiles, Roller Shutters and Sun Protection (ITRS), and Messe Stuttgart, honours innovative technical developments.

38 nominations from 10 countries emerged from around 100 entries that were admitted for prejudging. From these nominations, the R+T Innovation Awards have now been presented in 11 categories: Drive and control systems for roller shutters and sun protection systems; Drive and control systems for doors/gates; Building automation; Internal sun protection systems; Outdoor; Gathering blinds/Roman blinds; Roller shutters; Special solutions; Technical textiles; Textile sun protection systems and Doors/gates. The coveted Award was presented for the first time this year in Gold, Silver and Bronze. Special Awards were also presented in the areas of energy efficiency, sustainability and design.

Below are some of the top winners as judged by Window Furnishings Australia.

Winner Roller Shutters – Winsol SolarBox

The SolarBox roller shutters, which run on solar power, are the newest Winsol Innovation. This built-on system is perfect for renovations thanks to the quick installation and the fact that they are fully sustainable, due to the 2 integrated solar panels. These roller shutters are available with 4 finishes: Standard Symmetrical, Standard Asymmetrical, Black Belt (with a black band between the solar panels) and Colour (tinted solar panels). An option is XSmax-technology, which provides 40 cm of extra roll-up capacity.

Winner outdoor – Markilux Pergola Stretch

The new markilux pergola stretch opens up new possibilities for solar and wet weather protection as well as outdoor living. The cover is perfectly integrated into the minimalistic, high value awning system. The space-saving cover folding technology makes it possible to shade large areas and creates a special and impressive atmosphere. Manifold customisation options mean that the markilux pergola stretch will invariably catch your eye and they demonstrate that it is well prepared for a comfortable and relaxed season – al fresco.

Winner Interior Sun protection – Kadeco Felt Blind Oslo

The Oslo Venetian blind collection, Innovation Award winner Kadeco brings design felt to the window for the first time in the spirit of Scandinavian interior influences. The traditional look of the material is reminiscent of real natural felt and is underlined by the fine melange effects in restrained color nuances. The blind also assists in controlling room acoustics. It can be cleaned easily by simply vacuuming the slat. The Oslo collection includes four colors: a dark anthracite, a stone gray, a delicate light gray and a light beige.

Textile sun protection – MHZ Solix Exterior Roller Blind

The MHZ Solix exterior roller blind with battery drive is easy to install from the inside. This lightweight, battery-operated external sun protection roller blind offers reliable protection against heat and – in the version with insect protection – against insects at the same time. It fits in almost all types of windows, can be retrofitted very easily and is therefore ideal for existing properties, rental apartments and heritage listed buildings. Installation takes place from the inside, without scaffolding or cable work.
