HUNTER DOUGLAS ACQUIRES BLINDWARE

ISSUE 67 JULY 2019

In a deal that unfolded as WFA magazine went to press, Hunter Douglas has taken ownership of Blindware after the company had earlier been placed into voluntary administration on 28 May.

Blindware Managing Director Grant Norton said the decision to go into external administration was made by the Unit Holders of the holding Trust as a result of background issues that had emerged in the weeks immediately prior. The appointment of administrators was designed to protect the business assets so the company could be restructured. Blindware continued to trade “as normal” under Administration, with the company making its presence felt at the SuperExpo 2019.

“The move into Voluntary Administration had nothing to do with trading, we had a record month in May and at the time of going into administration we were looking at a record six months ahead. It was all to do with background issues, while the fundamentals of the business remained strong.”

“I would like to thank our customers, suppliers and great staff for their support during this difficult period, plus Hunter Douglas for taking this investment opportunity on board and creating an opportunity for Blindware to continue and develop.” Norton added.

While full details of the deal to acquire Blindware are not available at the time of press, it is understood that Norton invited Hunter Douglas into the deal and will stay on to run the business as Managing Director. According to Hunter Douglas sources, details of the acquisition will remain confidential, with the primary focus of Hunter Douglas being to continue to support the ongoing growth, development and success of Blindware given the strong foundation of the business.
