BMAA appoints Wesley Fawaz as first CEO to drive new growth strategy

The Blind Manufacturers’ Association of Australia (BMAA) has embarked on a new chapter with the appointment of Wesley Fawaz as its first Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Gilbert Da Silva, President of BMAA, announced this pivotal development, noting Fawaz’s extensive experience and leadership qualities as key factors in his selection.

Fawaz brings over 15 years of high-level experience in the association sector, including CEO roles.

In his new role, he will be tasked with a broad range of responsibilities, including executing the BMAA strategic plan, managing internal operations, and liaising with government and regulatory bodies such as the ACCC and ABCB. 

Da Silva said Fawaz’s appointment followed a thorough recruitment process, attracting numerous qualified candidates. “Wesley stood out with his results-driven focus and strong member-centric approach.”

With a Bachelor of Business and a Post Graduate Qualification in Public Relations, Fawaz’s background is well-suited to the challenges and opportunities in the window furnishings industry. His previous tenure as CEO of the Australasian Corrosion Association and Australasian Promotional Products Association demonstrates his capability in leading organisations to new heights.

Expressing enthusiasm for his new role, Fawaz is poised to contribute significantly to BMAA’s strategic direction and build upon the’s association already strong foundations. Da Silva expressed confidence in Fawaz’s ability to lead the association into its next stage of growth and development.

Fawaz took up his role on  22 January and his initial priorities will be to engage closely with directors, visit members, and attend the first BMAA board meeting of the year on 8 February in Brisbane. 

His start signifies a new era for BMAA, underlining the association’s commitment to enhancing its impact and value within the industry. Fawaz’s leadership marks what the BMAA described as “a significant milestone for BMAA, as it looks to strengthen its position and influence in the window furnishings sector.”

The association said the announcement “reflects the optimism and forward-thinking approach of BMAA as it embarks on this new journey.”
