With curtain retail performing well thanks to ongoing interest in soft window furnishings, suppliers share their insights on what’s selling at retail and the products catching the market’s eye.
Silent Gliss
Simon Meyer – Managing Director of Silent Gliss by Peter Meyer tells WFA the business has witnessed a surge in demand from its dealer network, “compelling us to create and launch fabrics and track styles that are experiencing a remarkable surge in popularity.”
“Our entire Silent Gliss curtain track range will soon feature all black hardware componentry, driven by several factors: Black is a timeless element of design, neutral and adaptable to contemporary or traditional décor; It has become an immensely popular colour in home fixtures and furniture, while black windows and doors are also increasingly fashionable. Most of our tracks, gliders, brackets, end caps, wave gliders and heading tape will be available in black, amongst other componentry.
“We are also noticing an upswing in dealer demand for curtain rods, and the Silent Gliss Metropole curtain Rods are unparalleled in every way, outshining their competitors. These curtain rods have no need for curtain rings, delivering the usability of a curtain track with the appearance of a curtain rod. The 30mm curtain rod boasts whisper-quiet specially coated poles and exclusive two-component patented 2C technology gliders and rollers, ensuring the curtain moves smoothly and silently, providing unprecedented silence.

With the rise of viruses such as Covid-19, Colorama 2 Bioactive has also become popular in other commercial and residential projects.”

Rollease Acmeda
Rollease Acmeda confirms its new motor releases are performing well, including the Versa curtain Motor “a powerful solution” that can handle curtains up to 11 metres wide and weighs up to 50kg, making it an excellent choice for large windows or heavy drapes. Connecting to two different power sources for flexible installation, the motor is offered in the option of a hard-wired solution or a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for a wire-free option. It also features inverted mounting for a concealed solution within ceiling pockets.
“The adjustable speed controls of the Versa Curtain Motor contribute to its versatility with the slowest setting offering optimal acoustics for a quieter home. Its soft stop technology slows the motor upon closure allowing curtains to come together gently and a manual activation feature can be initiated with a soft pull on the fabric to open or close a curtain for convenience.

BM Blinds
Michelle Macready from BM Blinds, the wholesale manufacturer of BM VeriShades, asks Adam Keyes from ARK Finishing Touches in Sydney, a retail client of BM Blinds for his thoughts on curtains in the current market.
“The new Veri Shade – is it a Blurtain or a Clind? – At ARK Finishing Touches, we call them curtains!” says Keyes. “Veri Shades are becoming increasingly popular as they work as a double curtain on a single track and are more cost effective than double curtains.”
“While motorised roller blinds are an option on large bi-fold and sliding doors, clients are leaning more to the soft furnishing finish like Veri Shades for that wow factor. Veri Shades can be measured and installed to fit floor to ceiling and wall to wall, providing an opulent finish.
“Veri Shades have multiple fabric choices, and the clients love the flexibility of having the billows tilted to emulate a sheer curtain or a blackout curtain.
