Buoyed by the ongoing boom in demand for drapes, new releases in curtain hardware are positioned to offer ready supply and a range of tracking, motor and accessories options that facilitate optimal operation.
Rollease Acmeda
Rollease Acmeda’s Versa Curtain Motor is described as “a powerful solution” that can handle curtains up to 11 metres wide and weighing up to 50kg, making it well suited for large windows or heavy drapes. Connecting to two different power sources for flexible installation, the motor offers the option of a hard-wired solution or a rechargeable lithium-ion battery for a wire-free option. It also features inverted mounting for a concealed solution within ceiling pockets.
“The adjustable speed controls of the Versa Curtain Motor contribute to its versatility with the slowest setting offering optimal acoustics for a quieter home. Its soft stop technology slows the motor upon closure, allowing curtains to come together gently, while a manual activation feature can be initiated with a soft pull on the fabric to open or close a curtain for convenience.”

Venus Window Fashions
Venus is a NSW based fabricator and wholesaler of internal window furnishings, established over 25 years
Venus General Manager, Michael McPhee tells WFA the business has also recently branched into “one-stop-shop” fabric supply, made to measure curtain tracking and custom made-to-measure curtaining.
Working with an expanding base of resellers, Venus concentrates on middle to upper end projects, commercial projects, designer co-operation for medium sized renovation and new residential work.
McPhee tells WFA that Venus curtain and tracking volumes have been increasing by over 30% per year in the past four years, and motorisation has been a growing sector. “Growth has been substantially higher than roller blinds for example, although motorisation in both markets has been increasing year on year.”
He adds that during the Covid19 pandemic, stocks of curtain tracking products from both Asia and Europe were in short supply on many occasions. This placed enormous pressure on Venus’ ability to complete reseller projects within a timely manner, too reliant on other importers or suppliers for access to product.
As a result: “Venus Window Fashions has now announced its entry into the curtain tracking importing and bulk distribution market, joining others like Oslo Curtain Hardware, Silent Gliss, Forest Drapery, Horiso, and Vanda in this enlarged market.”
The company is bringing its branded curtain tracking range from Europe. The Dutch designed range has some similarities to other ranges from Europe, but is “completely new in Australia.”
Known as the Venus V Series Curtain Tracking System, it includes a comprehensive range of conventional medium weight and heavy weight tracking, decorator “flat profile” tracking, and an extensive array of round decorator rods in popular colour ranges.
The tracking products offered comprise “exceptional quality powder coated, substantial aluminium profile, concealed ceiling and wall bracketing, and unique pillar wall bracketing for the decorator rods.”
The Venus V Series tracking will accommodate the proven Somfy Glydea AC and Somfy Movelite AC and DC curtain motors, for which Venus is also a wholesaler. Venus offers 5-year warranties, similar with Somfy motorisation products.

Simon Meyer – Managing Director of Silent Gliss by Peter Meyer confirms two recent additions have joined the Silent Gliss range: the 7605 Metroflat, 7610 Metropole and 6243 recessed Curtain Track Systems, “which are unmatched in their design and functionality.”

“The Silent Gliss 6465 offers a similar shaped profile, but it costs more because two profiles are required for recessing, while the 6243 uses only one profile. The 6243 also features larger internals and allows for the use of Roller Gliders in more heavy-duty applications.”

Somfy
Somfy has added to its curtain hardware offering with a “suite of innovative curtain accessories to better meet customer requirements and complement the Glydea Ultra and Movelite 35 motors,” as Somfy’s Product Marketing Executive, Nicki Beggs confirms.
“At Somfy, we place a tremendous focus on listening to the feedback of our valued customers and utilising it when innovating our motors and hardware,” Beggs tells WFA. “In the past twelve months we have launched a full silent accessories range and added two new black accessories in response to customer demand.
“The Somfy black curtain accessories enable our Curtain Partners to be able to tap into this market trend and offer their clients more versatility and opportunity to achieve their desired curtain design.”

In addition, Beggs says Somfy’s Glydea silent accessories “take the acoustic performance of motorised curtains to a whole new level, guaranteeing that curtains will open and close in an effortless, whisper quiet motion.”
“All our motors in the Glydea Ultra and Movelite ranges work with all of our Glydea Ultra track and accessories, meaning our customers don’t have to carry multiple ranges to suit multiple motors.”
