Decor smarts

Issue 89 March 2023

WFA talks to key window furnishings suppliers about the interior decor potential of their product offerings.

Suppliers in the window furnishings sector are wise to the importance of a holistic approach to creating interiors, with broad-appeal fabric ranges that offer opportunities beyond simple window furnishings applications.

Take Bliss, for which Ricky Richards is the exclusive supplier in Australia; the partnership between Ricky and Bliss creator – Spanish company Citel – has been in place for almost 20 years.

The Bliss fabric range – created for end uses including decor, interior design and art, is designed and manufactured in Spain, by Citel, renowned as a technical fabric manufacturer and with history dating back to 1875.

“While Citel is home to the likes of popular awning fabric Docril, the designers added their own sensitivity and aesthetic to what would become a refined collection of luxurious fabrics that can be used for indoor and outdoor applications, as well as in the marine industry.

“Bliss fabrics are 100% solution dyed acrylic, this process fuses the pigments directly to the fibre molecules, ensuring a stronger bond that those created by simply dying the thread or fabrics.

“Suitable for applications such as lounges, cushions, day beds and curtains, this collection boasts colour fastness, water repellence and weather resistance.

“In addition to the above, Bliss fabrics are stain repellent and bleach cleanable, perfect for the family home, where children and pets need space to lounge and play.

“The team at Citel pays special attention to waste treatment – once water is used throughout the manufacturing process it is no longer suitable for use in the environment, this is due to the potential for contaminants, like bacteria, chemicals and other toxins. With that, Citel began its biological treatment plant, where contaminants are reduced in water, making the water safe for use back in the environment.”

BM Blinds

BM Blinds has successfully its Veri Shades range for the interior decoration market, as Michelle Macready – Sales Manager, says.

“Over the past few years, we have seen a shift from the harsher styled products such as shutters to a softer look such as sheer curtains. The look of light being filtered through a sheer curtain can completely change homes’ interiors, giving them a luxurious ambience.

“This trend is due to increase as clients use their homes as an escape and oasis from the world. The resort style nature of sheer curtains has seen Veri Shades become one of our fastest growing product ranges.

“Savvy decorators are introducing clients to the practical nature of Veri Shades, as they combine the look of a sheer curtain with the practical nature of a blind, making them the clever curtain.

Macready confirms 2023 has seen the introduction of the Symmetry range of Veri Shade fabrics which is available exclusively from BM Blinds.

“Symmetry combines three patterns in three unique colour choices that reflect the most recent colour trends. The designs are a subtle nod to nature and are a must have for any modern home.

“Even the colour options within the Symmetry range have been designed to match client feedback. With white being the most popular colour, it was a necessary addition across all three patterns; however each pattern also has two other colours that are unique to that particular pattern.”
