As Uniline celebrates its 60th anniversary in July, the company reflects on its rich history and the promising future ahead.

Over the past six decades, Uniline has experienced considerable growth and success with its customers and partners, working together as a team. The company has faced challenges, anticipated technological advancements, and adapted to changing landscapes.

History in the making

“Reflecting on the past, it is remarkable to see what began as a humble local business, led by the drive and dedication of one man, Matti Ruonala, grew into a thriving company,” a company spokesperson tells WFA. 

“What began in 1965 as a small operation installing Venetian blinds has transformed into Uniline, an internationally renowned industry leader offering one of the largest ranges of fabrics and components for both indoor and outdoor systems in the wholesale sector.

Major milestones

Uniline Australia has reached a number of key milestones over its 60-year history. A notable achievement was winning the Australian Design Award for Privasee slimline slats, which introduced cutting-edge light-blocking technology and set the stage for future innovation and award recognition. 

The strategic move to expand in 1988, including the acquisition of land for three spacious warehouses, showcased the company’s dedication to growth and efficiency. Additionally, entering international markets and leading manufacturing advancements such as Elitex fabric in 2005 demonstrated Uniline’s forward-looking strategy.
