NEW HORIZONS FOR ALLTONE SHUTTERS

ISSUE 67 July 2019

Over 30 years, Queensland business Alltone Shutters has developed a profile as a wholesaler and manufacturer of Australian made PVC and Aluminium shutters and high-quality imported custom-made shutters in PVC, Basswood, Paulownia, Cedar and Aluminium. The company continues to grow its presence throughout the entire Australian market based on foundations of value, quality, reliability and standout customer service and communication.

Alltone Shutters’ offering has been known in the market for three decades, with the company now continuing and expanding that legacy following its purchase by Ray and Matthew Chatterton in 2016.

“We’re both passionate about Australian Made and decided to turn the business back to manufacturing here again after the trend turned to importing shutters about 10 years ago,” says Ray Chatterton. “This move was made to continue being competitive in the Australian market due to the shift in the exchange rate.”

A key attribute that underpins Alltone’s profile in the market is its reputation for customer satisfaction. This is the result of its owners’ lifelong knowledge of what retailers require, coupled with a strong focus on service turnaround times and quality of product. The company also makes direct deliveries where possible with its own fleet of vehicles currently covering Rockhampton to Canberra.

Alltone Shutters’ recent move from Maroochydore to a purpose-built factory at Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast, along with the purchase of state-of-the-art machinery to commence manufacturing Australian made shutters has taken the company in a new direction, says Matthew Chatterton.

“Importantly, it gave us the inspiration to launch our new range at Super Expo 2019.”

He describes the lead-up to the Super Expo 2019 as “an ever-changing fastpaced learning curve” for the company.

“We committed ourselves to launching our new Australian made Coolum Range PVC shutters and that is exactly what we achieved. We are proud of our production facility here on the Sunshine Coast which is why we aptly named the new ‘Coolum’ range to reflect this.”

He explains that continued demand for quality Plantation Shutters had led the company to determine how it could continue to grow and give its customers more options.

“We asked and we listened. It became very apparent that the Australian way has evolved, and we all want and need everything in shorter timeframes. Manufacturing in our new Coolum factory will ensure turnaround times will be more than halved in comparison to those of the imported variety. This also addresses those that prefer to buy Australian made.”

With a committed team providing enhanced energy, focus and direction, new processes and procedures have also been implemented to optimise product development outcomes.

“While we will continue to import from China to ensure value for money, we anticipate the demand for Australian made will continue to grow, which will lead to larger outputs being available,” says Ray Chatterton. “Along with the new Australian made Coolum PVC range introduction we are now offering imported PVC Project range and Paulownia shutters as well as re introducing imported Aluminium shutters.”

A new and improved product manual and pricelists are now available along with the new shutter sample cases to reflect the additional options.

The Alltone Shutters range includes:

  • PVC Project Range
  • PVC Premium Range
  • PVC Coolum Australian Made range
  • Paulownia
  • Basswood
  • Western Red Cedar
  • Aluminium Imported
  • Aluminium Cityscape – Australian Made

Looking ahead, the company sees its recent showing at Super Expo 2019 as an opportunity to showcase an enhanced offering to the market and position itself for further growth.

“We’re looking forward to looking out for our retail customers across Australia with a premium quality Australian made offering and a continued commitment to the best possible customer service. We see these as the drivers of a business with the potential to continue to grow for the next three decades and beyond.”

“We’re both passionate about Australian Made and decided to turn the business back to manufacturing here again after the trend turned to importing shutters about 10 years ago,” Ray Chatterton, Alltone Shutters.
