Somfy cements connectivity alliance

Issue 104 September 2025

Somfy, and SmartThings, Samsung’s connected living platform, recently announced compatibility between the Somfy Connectivity Platform TaHoma and the SmartThings app in Australia.

This expansion brings enhanced automation capabilities to a broader audience, enabling more homeowners to experience the benefits of connected living.

Somfy-powered Zigbee and RTS solutions connected to a TaHoma switch hub can now be controlled through SmartThings with a single touch or automatically, at home or remotely. Users can also integrate Somfy solutions into existing SmartThings automations and scenes.

For example, users can create a ‘Home Cinema’ scene which would turn on the TV, dim the lights, and close the curtains and blinds to create the perfect ambiance for family movie night.

“Somfy has made openness and interoperability a pillar of its strategy with the launch of the ‘So Open’ program in 2018 and today we are proud to expand this ecosystem with Samsung SmartThings,” announced Mary Ladu, Marketing Manager for Somfy Oceania.

“By partnering with SmartThings, Somfy offers its users the opportunity to enjoy a smarter, more seamless and flexible home, with improved interoperability between different devices and technologies,” added Ladu.

“The expansion of Somfy and Samsung SmartThings to Australia demonstrates our shared commitment to delivering innovative, accessible, and energy-efficient home automation solutions to a global audience,” said Mark Benson, Head of SmartThings US.

“This collaboration empowers homeowners worldwide to create custom automations that add convenience, comfort, and savings to their daily lives.”
