Technical evolution and design-led aesthetics are driving the curtain tracking market.
Silent Gliss by Peter Meyer
Simon Meyer – Managing Director Silent Gliss by Peter Meyer – notes that whether for residential, commercial, healthcare, or high-end retail spaces, Silent Gliss continues to offer curtain track solutions that go beyond expectation – quiet, durable, and designed for the most stylish interiors.
“With a focus on seamless operation and flexible installation, recent system enhancements have broadened the possibilities for specifiers and designers. One key development is the addition of Hanger Rods (or dropper rods) across multiple systems including the SG5600 (motorised), SG6970 (manual), SG7605 Metroflat, and SG7610 Metropole.
“Manufactured in Australia for faster turnaround, these rods are available in black and white as standard, with silver available via indent. Both straight and V-shaped formats allow suspended installation from ceilings – offering practical, elegant solutions in everything from hospital bays to luxury bridal boutiques.
“Silent Gliss by Peter Meyer continues to support the growing demand for aesthetic choice, with the Metroflat range now including a satin anodised finish alongside classic matte black and white. A fully coordinated black hardware system – featuring matching tracks, gliders, rollers, wave tape, and components – remains a popular specification for contemporary interiors seeking cohesion and depth.
“The 7605 Metroflat and 7610 Metropole remain industry favourites. Metroflat’s 36mm profile suits modern industrial-style spaces, while Metropole offers a classic 30mm round aesthetic with a wide range of decorative finials and bracket styles. Both utilise patented 2C Glider and Roller technology for whisper-quiet operation – ideal for hospitality, healthcare, or home applications.
“Also gaining popularity is the SG6243 recessed curtain track. Slim, strong, and designed to disappear into ceiling lines, this profile creates a true floor-to-ceiling Curtain drop and is particularly suited to light- and medium-weight sheers in open-plan spaces.
“For projects seeking smart home compatibility, the SG5600 Motorised Curtain Track remains a market leader. Offering smooth, silent movement and integration with major home automation platforms, it now benefits from the new Hanger Rod option – allowing suspended or irregular ceiling installations without structural compromise. With the growing uptake of low-voltage DC motors, Silent Gliss motorisation is now more accessible to residential retrofits and renovations as well as luxury builds.”
Meyer notes that in a market where curtain tracks are no longer an afterthought but a core part of the design narrative, “Silent Gliss by Peter Meyer continues to deliver.”
“These systems fill critical market gaps – balancing technical performance, acoustic sensitivity, and high-end aesthetics. The ability to bend tracks, recess profiles, and suspend systems offers unmatched flexibility for designers working across diverse applications.”
“As soft window furnishings and layered treatments continue to trend in 2025, and the smart home shift accelerates, Silent Gliss remains at the forefront – defining what premium curtain hardware should look, feel, and sound like.”
WINDOWARE
Windoware has recently released its new Backhung Wavefold System, which is compatible with the M-System Track and Decorative Rod range. It has also launched the new Mini Topfix Bracket for all M-System Tracks, complete with discreet Cover Plate.
Both developments are a response to market demand and demonstrate parent company’s MCP’s commitment to supplying “world class, innovative products to our customers and the industry,” the organisation confirms.
“Our Backhung Wavefold System allows for compatibility across multiple track and rod profiles; teamed with our current Underhung Newave System, we can now offer a Wavefold solution across every profile in our range. Our best-selling track is our M-System Square which provides a simple, sleek design favoured by the majority of the market. With Wavefold compatibility in this track profile consumers can now enjoy the look and function of the track they prefer with the beauty of Wavefold drapery.
“The new Mini Topfix Bracket has myriad benefits. Its reduced depth means it can be installed closer to the wall, reducing heat loss resulting in a more energy efficient home. The neat addition of the cover plate appeals to consumers with a keen design eye as it now blends seamlessly into the ceiling with no visible fixing screws. This bracket offers the same ease of installation as our other M-System Bracket projections, enabling M-System Tracks to be installed in an eighth of the time of any other system.
Both of the new innovations were developed and released in response to market feedback.
“Our team are consistently engaging with our retailers and the wider market to keep abreast of changes and needs. As a result we are perpetually generating newness to grow and support our retailers.
“The Backhung Wavefold is hugely complementary to our existing range in that all profiles can now be utilised with a Wavefold application. Customers no longer have to limit their hardware selection to match their drapery.
“With the Mini Topfix Bracket, both function and style were considered and prioritised. As we endeavour to remain as environmentally conscious as possible – a solution that offers increased resistance to heat loss was always going to be high on our development agenda.”
The company describes the current market for this category as “ripe with opportunity.”
“We are not insensitive to, or unaffected by, market retrenchment of course. However, there is still ample opportunity whether that be through existing and/or new customer growth, new product development, utilising software and technological evolutions or diversification into alternative markets. There is never a time to stand still and so here at MCP, we simply don’t. It is incumbent on us as a manufacturing wholesaler to constantly seek ways to drive margin into our retailers; we achieve this by understanding our retailers, knowing their need for value added propositions, responding to their requirement for technically superior products and delivering innovation to them and their consumers.”
The company concludes that the increased offering of wirefree systems is influencing the market for motorisation in curtain tracking.
“We have seen greater growth in battery operated (wire-free) motorised tracks. As with most motorised options in window furnishing, the application is retrospective. We anticipate motorised tracks to represent 15% of volume by spend within the next two years.”
