Ultracut - Duoweld

Movements in machinery

Issue 102 May 2025

Demand for blind machinery solutions is holding steady, with operational and packaging advances underway.

Ultracut

Ultracut continues to attract positive market response to the recent addition of its 8.0 metre weld capacity Duoweld Impulse welder.

“This welder has an increased capacity up from the original 6.4 metre model,” says Ultracut Director Garth Jacobs. “The larger size not only enables customers to weld large external zip systems but can also increase productivity by allowing the operator to weld multiple jobs at once, significantly reducing the average cycle time.

“Other new developments include the recent integration of fabric optimisation and management with Blind Matrix software and other software providers for our Vectrocut Sono Fabric Cutting machine.

Ultracut – Vectrocut SONO

“This allows current and new users of our industry benchmark cutting machine to better manage fabric efficiencies and streamline machine job data entry time to a minimum.  Ultracut identified that fabric optimisation and management is best handled with  production / front end systems like Blind Matrix as fabric usage is a function that needs to be also tied in with purchasing and inventory management to make it streamlined and a closed loop.

“Data is easily exported to all our cutting machines, relieving the operator of the need to nest for best efficiency.  In addition to the optimisation options, the VectrocutSono has also been increased in capacity to 3.3 x 6.5 metres, allowing for larger Ultrasonic Cuts, all without the need of vacuum or sacrificial plastic film for screen fabric.  Many of the larger machines have been shipped with great feedback.  Vectrocut Sono remains the current industry go-to machine for Ultrasonic / Crush cutting with the lowest running costs, highest reliability and great efficiency.

“The market has increased for both of these machines.  We sell many models of fabric cutting machines but our High End VectrocutSono is the most popular choice by far for small, medium and large wholesalers who see the advantage of high output and minimal maintenance and the backup support and reputation that Ultracut provides and has built its name on.”

Triple M Trading

Triple M Trading is delivering next-level packaging solutions for the Blinds and Awnings industry, according to Simon Meyer, Managing Director of Triple M Trading.

“Triple M Trading is proud to offer the innovative Stand-By packaging machine range, developed in Holland and tailored specifically for higher-volume manufacturers in the blinds, awnings and tracking sector,” says Meyer. “The latest additions to this range include models with fully automated functionality – from barcode scanning and box construction to sealing and labelling – designed to elevate packaging productivity and precision.” Features and benefits include:

  • Automated box creation: Boxes are custom-sized to each product, reducing void fill and material waste.
  • Hotmelt glue sealing: Eliminates the need for tapes or staples, ensuring a cleaner, more secure finish.
  • Barcode scanning + custom labelling: From shipping labels to logos, everything is printed in-line.
  • Lightning-fast packaging: A 3-metre box can be built and sealed in under 20 seconds by a single operator.
  • Size versatility: Handles box lengths from 35cm to 9 metres with ease—ideal for everything from small components to full awning systems.
  • Robust output: Transport-proof packaging that’s customer-friendly to open, recycle, or reuse.

Designed for minimal downtime, consistent output, and long-term reliability, these machines offer rapid ROI through improved logistics, reduced freight damage, and streamlined operations.
“As labour costs rise and freight requirements become more stringent, businesses are seeking smarter, leaner packaging processes,” Meyer says.

Triple M Trading

“Triple M Trading’s solutions fill the gap between manual boxing methods and full-scale factory automation, delivering a cost-effective, scalable option that improves throughput, reduces human error, and enhances sustainability. For companies not yet ready for full automation, we also offer customisable pre-creased cardboard options.

“We’re seeing a strong upward trend in demand for localised, high-efficiency manufacturing solutions – especially with the current economic instability and tariff uncertainty. Australian Blinds and Awnings businesses are increasingly looking to invest in technology that improves productivity while reducing environmental impact. Our machinery helps them meet both objectives, offering a future-ready solution aligned with global sustainability goals.”

For large-scale manufacturers or growing businesses taking their first step toward automation, Triple M Trading provides both machinery and material solutions to match your needs. The full range includes:

  • Automated standby packaging machinery.
  • Fanfold cardboard for on-demand packaging.
  • Pre-creased, customisable cardboard for manual use.
