The Window Shading Association of Australia (WSAA) has formed four state-based event committees, with the plan to offer regular member-driven events across the country.
Devised of local member volunteers, these committees aim to strengthen industry connections, provide professional development opportunities, and enhance membership engagement by organising local state-based events.
The South Australia State Committee led the way with the first of these events last year attracting close to 50 attendees and the Victorian committee soon followed with their ‘Brewing Industry Connections’ social night at CB Co Brewing in Port Melbourne on Thursday 20 February to kick off these events in 2025.
“The WSAA Melbourne Social Night at CB Co Brewing was a fantastic experience! The brewery tour was fascinating, and the relaxed atmosphere made it easy to connect with other industry professionals. It was great to see familiar faces and meet new ones while enjoying some incredible craft beers. I left feeling more connected to the window shading industry and excited for future events!”said Bernie Sombekke of SOM Blinds.
WSAA CEO Wesley Fawaz said that “momentum is now building and the committees are bringing fresh ideas and exciting networking opportunities. By empowering passionate volunteers to coordinate events like technical presentations, open forums, factory site visits, product displays, and social gatherings, WSAA is creating tailored experiences that resonate with each state’s unique membership base.”
Each committee will consist of approximately five members who represent diverse industry roles, from suppliers and manufacturers to retailers and service providers.
“This initiative isn’t just about events—it’s about fostering a sense of community and connection within the industry. Committee members will play a vital role as local advocates, ensuring that WSAA continues to grow and thrive by addressing the needs and interests of its members,” added WSAA CEO, Wesley Fawaz.
As the WSAA expands this initiative to other states, members are encouraged to get involved. Whether by attending events or joining a committee, there are countless ways to connect, learn, and contribute to the vibrant window shading industry.
The WSAA extends its thanks to the following members who have volunteered their time to join their state-based events committee:
