Dalekit recently held a successful open day at its new factory in South Windsor NSW, with a big turnout from the industry.
Dalekit Managing Director Joe Pajeska said that the event started out as an idea from General Manager Joanne DeSilva to give customers a chance to update samples and ask motor programming questions with a small group of suppliers.
However, it quickly grew, with 13 suppliers and over 130 customers registered to attend.
“A small Trade Show was the result and what a day it was,” Pajeska told WFA.
“Whilst much of the day was planned whilst staff were in Covid isolation, the remaining team picked up the slack and created a day to be remembered.”
“We had skeleton crew production for much of the day we were pleased to see many customers -and suppliers – watching the manufacturing processes, especially in the fabrics area and specialty awnings area, where all staff were on hand to show and discuss the manufacturing processes.”
In attendance with samples, brochures and an abundance of knowledge to share were: Acmeda, Alpha, Blindware, Defab, Goodearl & Bailey, HVG, Nolans, Ricky Richards, Scott Free, Simu, Somfy , Texstyle, and Uniline.
“Using a space of around 600sqm in the back corner of our factory currently available before we fill the area with internal fabrics, the morning session was packed full of eager customers who were treated to a Zipscreen installation demonstrations. Tips were shared and an opportunity to see how quickly and easily a Zipscreen can be installed – 21 minutes was the official time with lots of talking in between,” Pajeska said.
“Many suppliers also bought along new products and prototypes, giving our customers the opportunity to give feedback not just to Dalekit but also the suppliers as to what the market is wanting.”
Pajeska said that the Jentschmann Screen Cut machine was “running beautifully” on the day, giving all attendees an opportunity to see the possibilities the machine can offer.
“We had many comment from our industry experts, all appreciating the amazing ability of the system to pick rolls and cut fabric in such a quick timeframe and ease. The main question asked being ‘How much did that cost?’”
A compact retractable roof was installed and surrounded using Zipscreens from Acmeda. Alpha, Simu and Somfy obstacle motors where customers could see for themselves the differences in characteristics between suppliers.
“A custom designed frame made out of our retractable roof system extrusions containing versions of the Acmeda and Blindware rollers blinds was a central hub for the whole day, with the majority of customers chasing pricing and anticipating the official release of our internal products ranges,” Pajeska said.
“As the owner of this company, I was truly pleased to see such a wonderful turnout to our Open Day. The staff, suppliers and customers were all so gracious with each other and the open communication between everyone was just brilliant to see. I thank my GM for all the hard work she put into this day from the very beginning, and thanks also to my office team who battled to get everything done on time.”
