On track for growth

ISSUE 72 MAY 2020

With curtains undergoing a resurgence of their own, the underpinnings of innovative hardware are also experiencing growth and innovation.

SILENT GLISS – BLINDS BY PETER MEYER

Blinds by Peter Meyer recently took over the Silent Gliss business in Australia and has seen significant growth in both its Silent Gliss manual and motorised tracks, says Managing Director Simon Mayer. “Along with this we are also seeing growth in the number of Somfy Glydea motorised curtain tracks that we are doing as we expand on our curtain tracking product range. We have been manufacturing Somfy Glydea tracks for many years now but we didn’t have a manual solution available. Now with Silent Gliss, we have a full range of hand and cords drawn options and much more. We are bringing in other products from the Silent Gliss range including roller blinds and even their beautiful large skylight wintergarden systems.  With our three bending machines and our new plotting printer to output customers templates, we are fast becoming known for our curtain track bending. We’re also about to launch a new compact square profile along with a matching recess profile to allow this track to be installed flush into a ceiling or installed as we normally see tracks, either ceiling or face fitted.”

“We are certainly seeing interest in soft furnishings increase and with this we are seeing growth in the need for tracking solutions. At Blinds by Peter Meyer we are seeing this as a great opportunity for us to expand into a market that we had little exposure to in the past.”

ROLLEASE ACMEDA

The new Automate Versa motor from Rollease Acmeda can power curtains up to 11 metres in width, weighing up to an impressive 50kg. Versa offers an Interchangeable Power Source, offering the choice to have shades connected via mains power for continuous charge or opt for a wire-free set-up with a lithium-ion rechargeable battery pack. Versa also boasts inverted mounting, where the motor can be mounted vertically to hide the mechanism within a ceiling pocket for a premium invisible aesthetic.

Technologies from its predecessor have remained, including soft touch and manual activation. Soft touch ensures curtains come to a slow, elegant stop, perfect for dual closing curtains; and manual activation allows automated control via a gentle pull on the fabric, moving the drapes to the preferred, open or closed, position.

“Automate Radio Communication utilises two-way communication to provide up-to-date feedback on battery levels and curtain/drape positioning via the Automate Pulse 2 App. Three convenient speed settings are available to either speed up or slow down curtain movement if a quieter environment is preferred.  Battery levels can easily be checked with one touch of the remote, moving the curtain/drape to indicate battery percentage, and micro USB charging offers flexibility and convenience re-charging when using the rechargeable battery pack.”
